Just sit back and relax...

... in a Chaise Lounge!

I simply adore these chairs! I have always wanted one. It would be strategically placed in a bay window and would be upholstered in rich decadent fabrics. Obviously I would lay there seductively, while reading a book and staring out the window, waiting for a handsome young man to try to woo me with a love song.

The name Chaise Lounge is derived from the French phrase 'chaise longue' (shayz long) which means long chair. The Chaise Lounge came about in the 16th century, when wooden benches and chairs were the norm. Because most of these chair are ornate and built for comfort, they were reserved for those with authority. In the 1900's they were associated with old Hollywood and Freudian forms of Psychology, in which the psychologist wanted their patient to lay back, relax, and recall all their dreams and oppressed memories.

Hopefully my adoration for these chairs has nothing to do with Freudian psychology, and is more along the Old Hollywood and authority line of this pieces history. Whatever the reason I simply love it... and you can even get one for your doggy! What could possibly be better?

xoxo
